Mighty Mangroves ( Summer Learning Journey)

On your blog, tell us about this person. Who are they? Why are they, in your opinion, so strong and tough?

The 2 people that I think are strong and tough is my Dad and my Poppa.
I think my Dad is strong because he is a builder and
he is always carrying heavy pieces of Wood and heavy tools.
I think my dad is tough because if he hurts himself
he won't worry about it he will keep working.
When I need help I know one of them is always their to help me.
 I think my poppa is strong because he is always carrying heavy
stuff around . I think my dad and poppa are very strong and helpful
and I love them so much.

    My name is Rachel and I am working on the Summer Learning Journey programme. It is wonderful to see that you are participating in the programme this year and making your way through all of the activities. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts, particularly this lovely tribute to your dad. It sounds like he is a very strong and tough man who works hard and helps others. My dad is also a really lovely man. He's actually a teacher but he retired a few years ago and now spends his time at home, working around the house and helping my mother with jobs. Both he and my mom live in Canada but they are coming to New Zealand next month to visit. I can't wait!

    I see that you have just posted an answer for the 'Heated Debate' activity and I will be sure to read it so that I can come up with some good ideas for things to see and do when my parents come to visit. They will be tourists so I will need to show them all of the amazing sights and sounds that we have on offer here in NZ! It is great that they are coming in the summer time so that I can show them some of our beautiful beaches. They both love to swim so I hope that they will remember to pack their togs. In Canada, we call togs 'bathing suits.' I still forget, sometimes, when I am talking to my son, Aronui, and will ask him to pack his bathing suit for our trip the beach. He always laughs when I say that!

    I hope that you will get the chance to enjoy the sunshine down south. We live in Auckland where it is beautiful and hot today. What is the weather like for you today?

    Hi, Rachel,
    Thank you for commenting on my blog. I did not know that people in
    Canada call togs Bathing Suits. It is sunny here in Greymouth with
    a few clouds.

      Hi Summer,

      Thanks for writing back! I'm glad to hear that weather is sunny in Greymouth today. I hope that you'll have the chance to get outside and enjoy it! It's a bit cloudy here but that is okay because I plan to spend much of the day inside reading blogs and writing comments. I feel so lucky to have this job!
